Location

Innsbruck is  the capital city of the Tirol (Tyrol) region of Austria and is south of Munich. The main roads from Innsbruck go to the Brenner Pass and Italy (South), Munich (North), St. Anton and Switzerland (West), and Salzburg (East). Innsbruck has a number of “holiday villages”: Aldrans, Ampass, Axams, Brigitz, Ellbögen, Götzens, Gries im Sellrain, Grinzens, Igls, Kematen, Kühtai, Lans, Mutters, Natters, Oberperfuss, Patsch, Ranggen, Rinn, Rum, St. Sigmund-Praxmar, Sellrain, Sistrans, Unterperfuss, Völs, Zirl.

Walking / Hiking in the Innsbruck Area

The local walking area is to the north of Innsbruck on and around Nordpark. With good transport connections, there are lots of possibilities around the other Innsbruck villages (Mutters) and the Stubai valley (Telfes).

The Tourist Office may offer free led walks.

Skiing in the Innsbruck Area

Downhill skiing is available in several areas close to Innsbruck like Nordpark and Patscherkofel (2246m). Innsruck is part of the Olympia SkiWorld Innsbruck which covers 9 ski resorts.

There are lots of cross country tracks in the area.
