Mürren is in the Kanton of Bern in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. It lies on the other side of the valley from Wengen and the Eiger - Mönch - Jungfrau mountain range on a sheltered terrace facing north east. Mürren is part of the Jungfrau region together with Interlaken, Grindelwald, Wengen, Bönigen, Ringgenberg-Goldswil, Iseltwald, Wilderswil and Lauterbrunnen. Mürren is one of the few villages in Switzerland not reached by road and apart from a few electric vehicles it is traffic free. From the valley town of Interlaken, Mürren is reached by either a 3 hour walk or by two mountain trains - there is no road connection. At an altitude of 1650m the air in Mürren is clear and you can start walking at a high altitude.

Buses

There is a good network of buses in Interlaken. There are no buses in Mürren.

Rail Stations (Bahnhof)

The main train network is run by Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). There is a regional train from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen where there is a funicular up to Grütschalp and then a train along to Winteregg and Mürren.

Cable Cars - Chair Lifts

There are several trains and lifts in the area. A weekly lift pass can be used on them.

A gondola (Luftseilbahn) runs from the valley at Stechelberg to Mürren and the summit at Schilthorn (LSMS)

Piz Gloria Revolving Restaurant on the Schilthorn (3000m) made famous by the film, “On Her Majesty's Secret Service”. The Restaurant takes 1 hour to go around once. You can have a drink in the “James Bond Bar”.
