Mayrhofen is a town in the Tirol (Tyrol) region of Austria and lies in the north-south Ziller valley (Zillertal) south east of Innsbruck. The main road (165) travels about 30 km south from Jenbach at the start of the valley and turns east just after Zell Am Ziller and before Mayrhofen to run along the Pinzgau valley through Mittersill to Zell am See. Therefore there is not a lot of through traffic in Mayrhofen. Finkenburg and the Hintertux Glacier are a few km south west of Mayrhofen.
