Wengen is in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. It lies at the foot of the Eiger - Mönch - Jungfrau mountain range on a sheltered terrace facing south west. Wengen is part of the Jungfrau region together with Interlaken, Grindelwald, Mürren, Bönigen, Ringgenberg-Goldswil, Iseltwald, Wilderswil and Lauterbrunnen. Wengen is one of the few villages in Switzerland not reached by road and apart from a few electric vehicles it is traffic free. From the valley town of Interlaken, Wengen is reached by either a 3 hour walk or by two mountain trains - there is no road connection. At an altitude of 1300m the air in Wengen is clear and you can start walking at a high altitude.

Buses
There is a good network of buses in Interlaken. There are no buses in Wengen.
Rail Stations (Bahnhof)
The main train network is run by Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). There is a regional train from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen where a small mountain train goes to Wengen, Kleine Scheidegg and the summit of Jungfrau (3454m).

Top of Europe - Europe’s Highest Train Station
One popular place to visit is the Jungfraujoch at 3454m. This is reached by the Jungfrau Railway. Trains travel from Interlaken Ost via Grindelwald and Kleine Scheidegg - from Wengen take a train to Kleine Scheidegg and change. From Kleine Scheidegg the train travels 7 km through the Eiger mountain north-face in a tunnel. There are two station stops where you can get off the train and look through windows at the views of the valleys, mountains and glaciers. At Jungfrajoch there is
From Jungfraujoch the views extend as far as the Vosges in France and the Black Forest in Germany. To the North can see the Jura, just across the Mönch and Jungfrau; to the South the endless ice flows of Europe’s largest glacier, the Aletsch Glacier.
You can buy a reduced price train ticket “The Good Morning Ticket” and have breakfast in the restaurant - the train departs from Interlaken Ost at about 06:30.

Piz Gloria Revolving Restaurant on the Schilthorn (3000m) above Mürren made famous by the film, “On Her Majesty's Secret Service”. The Restaurant takes 1 hour to go around once. You can have a drink in the “James Bond Bar”.
